This Month at BCC: April 2024

Author: Tomos Charles

As the sun finally graces us with its presence this month, we at BCC are thrilled to share the exciting happenings here in BCC IT. Despite the cloudy start to spring, April has been nothing short of eventful, with new initiatives, sponsorships, and the much-anticipated launch of our new website. Join us as we recount the highlights of this vibrant month at BCC.

BCC DIY: Innovating Space and Aesthetics

Kicking off the month, we found ourselves facing a delightful predicament: running out of room in our loading area. With a surge in orders, the stockroom and loading area were bursting at the seams. Determined to make the most of our space. We had to start using the container outside the office. We transformed the area outside the container into a functional and aesthetically pleasing space. From crafting a charming walkway adorned with small stones to repurposing old pallets into a rustic fence. we’re not done yet; plans for a door and a roof are underway to ensure functionality and comfort, rain or shine.

Empowering Communities through Sponsorships

April marked a significant milestone in our journey as we extended our support to worthy causes and community endeavours. Steph, a member of our service desk team, embarked on a sponsored walk for the Pembrokeshire Siblings Group. As part of the Inner Wheel Club of Milford Haven’s social club, Steph undertook this endeavour to provide support to siblings of disabled and special needs children—an often overlooked demographic. Despite facing the challenges of a stingy nettle attack and managing three enthusiastic canine companions, Steph completed the walk, covering an impressive 12000 steps in just over two hours.

In addition to individual endeavours, BCC IT proudly announced its sponsorship of the Carmarthen and District Swimming Club. Demonstrating our commitment to local sports and charitable causes, we supported the club’s participation in the National Swimathon, raising funds for Marie Curie and Cancer Research UK. Tia, the daughter of one of our technical engineers, showcased her determination and spirit by contributing to the fundraising efforts, raising an impressive £435. We look forward to supporting the club in their future endeavours and celebrating their successes.

We look forward to all that next month brings and hope to see more of the sun out with Summer coming soon. We hope you all have a great month and we shall see you in the next “This Month at BCC”.

Thank you for reading.
