This Month at BCC: November 2024

Welcome back again to “This Month at BCC IT”!

After a brief pause since June when our colleague Tomos left us as he returned to university, I am thrilled to take over and revive our monthly series of insights. I am looking forward to sharing regular updates on our team’s efforts, current projects, and insights to help you stay informed about all the latest developments at BCC IT.

Some of you may already know me, as I have worked at BCC IT since 2018. My role here is to coordinate the Customers Experience, while also supporting our Account Managers and Sales Team. For anyone I haven’t yet had the pleasure of connecting with, I hope these monthly insights will serve as an opportunity to bring us all closer together.

At BCC IT we are always eager to improve our services, and your feedback plays a vital role in shaping how we continue to grow. I’d like to encourage you to share any suggestions and insights with me at any time. Together, through communication and collaboration, we hope we will continue to deliver the best experience possible.

In addition to reviving our monthly blog, I’m also excited to breathe new life into our social media presence. On LinkedIn and Twitter, you’ll start seeing regular updates, industry specific insights and announcements such as job vacancies, while I hope our Instagram will provide a more personal glimpse into the sociable and friendly side of our business and the people who make up BCC IT. If you’re not already following us, now is the perfect time to connect, as I hope these platforms will provide a fun and informative way to engage with us while keeping updated.

The first news update I am thrilled to share, follows a busy month as we prepared to be audited once again for the ISO27001. Retaining our certification status is critical for our enhanced reputation for securing and protecting critical data, and this year we were audited for the ISO27001:2022, which introduces 11 new important controls.

This certification process required BCC IT to assess information security risks, implement robust security controls and processes, and embed information security management across our organisation. It represents a significant achievement for BCC IT, demonstrating our systematic approach to managing sensitive security information.

UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) certification is considered to be the leader in ISO standards and is the only way an organisation can use the coveted Government backed accreditation symbol – commonly referred to as the “UKAS Crown and Tick” which we are proud to display.

Congratulations to our Compliance and HR Officer, Deborah, for her tireless efforts towards this incredible achievement once again, and of course to the whole team at BCC IT for their motivation and engagement throughout this worthwhile process.

Elsewhere in BCC IT, as days shorten and evenings draw in, our certified engineers have been dispatched across Wales to install secure Wi-Fi solutions, migrate clients to Microsoft 365, install cabinets and Unified Threat Management (UTM) devices, retire old servers, and reconfigure endpoints. All while striving to meet client needs with minimal disruption.

As we now near the end of November, we are already gearing up for an exciting run up to the end of a busy year. Stay tuned for next month and enjoy a glimpse into our Christmas preparations as we sprinkle in a touch of seasonal good cheer.
